Protecting Our Community
Communicable diseases are illnesses that are often spread from person to person, but can also be spread through food, water and animals. Communicable Disease Control services, which are provided by the Heskw’en’scutxe Health Services Society include:
- Immunization
- TB screening and treatment
- Handwashing education
- Distribution of harm reduction supplies (naloxone kits, safer injection supplies, safer inhalation supplies, and safer sex supplies).
- Referral to testing for bloodborne and sexually transmitted Infections (e.g. HIV, hepatitis C, gonorrhea and chlamydia)
Call the Cooks Ferry or Siska offices to schedule a private and confidential appointment with the HHSS Community Health Nurse.
*Harm reduction supplies can be obtained from any staff member
